Sunday bookend: 3 check-ins today.

Post by oak »

I usually try to limit my spoons to zero, yet today I have several life-enriching things available to make me happy and strong, and get me to my longer term goals. With your kind indulgence, I'd like to do a three-part bookend today:

1. Day up to now.
2. Between now and 12:56 pm.
3. Thereafter

1. Day so far

a. I am soaking the lentils for my deeply beloved misir wat.
b. I cleaned the shower. Spoon intensive

Goals for between now and 12:56:

a. Take out trash (2 min)
b. Start a beautiful beef roast in the first crockpot (2 min)
c. Start the misir wat in the second crockpot (5 min)
d. Per my nutrition counselor meal, prep the fruit for this week (eg put berries in Tupperware) (5 min)
e. Run dishwasher if indicated (10 min) Spoon intensive
f. Clear dojang/dance studio (ie empty space in my beloved apt) and MAYBE use the Spinwave before Zoom dance class (10 min?) Very spoon intensive, but high reward

Goals for 12:56 and after:

a. Zoom swing dance class! (2 hours)
b. Talk with good friend on phone (1 hour) Spoon intensive.
c. Listen to fairly-beloved bluegrass radio show (1 hour)
d. Maybe pick up ukulele to practice (15 min)
e. Enjoy tacos with fresh pico de gallo (which I really love) beef straight from the slow cooker. Yum!

In short, everything I do in the next hour or two is one less thing to worry/think about, and put me in an increasingly advantageous position for the coming week. Basically I want to have the dishwasher humming away as I begin the Zoom dance class.

I'll post, twice more, at the indicated times, with updates! Thanks for listening.

Update 2 of 3:

I did... pretty well!

I accomplished a, b, c, and e to my satisfaction.

f got done, poorly, but I won't let it stop me from joining the Zoom dance class while (d) will have to wait until after bluegrass. No biggie.

I have peace of mind, though my mind continues to race.

Thanks for listening! I'll offer one last update tonight.

I hope you enjoy the Zoom class and continue to have peace of mind as you head into your week.

Will look for your update.

Thanks RiverGirl!

I ended up completing all of them, at an enormous cost of spoons: I hadn't been that grief-wracked since 1995, and 1995 was a bad bad year.

I'll be more judicious with my spoons going forward, getting done what I can on Saturdays and Thursdays during the day.

Life is exhausting.

For some strange reason I have extra spoons this week. I wish terribly that I could send some spoons to you, Oak.

I am sorry the grief has you suffering like this. But you presevered. Amazing, great stuff, as per usual.

Thanks, Manuel Moe!

Your post made me smile (the first time I smiled all day), and immediately I found a spoon to shower and an extra spoon to shave (a real accomplishment). I felt human for the first time all day.

I hope this good karma flows back to you, a spoon or two, this week.
