Do you like the word "survivor"?

Post by vampedvixen »

I hate the word "survivor" that is sometimes thrown at me because of the things I've been through. It makes me feel like a non-normal person, someone who only gets to survive in some kind of apocalypse ridden landscape eating dead rats crushed under my Mad Max boots. That said, I'm not going to bust people's balls if they wish to call me that.

I don't want to just survive, I want to live-- like every other person in this world.

That's fair. And I also think it's totally fair and not at all ball-busting to tell somebody you don't identify with the term when they use it to describe you. (Not that you should feel obliged to do so, but if you want to, it's totally your right.)
