Thank you for sharing, Beany Boo. Please keep doing so.

May I ask what “titration” means in this context?

A person with a "why" can endure any "how". -Viktor Frankl

Titration refers to the conscious tapering of your emotional responses. For example, I feel angry. As I feel the anger, if I reduce the dosage of the anger by a few degrees, I suddenly have a subtly different response to the situation in which the anger was prompted. Or, as the anger comes through I subtly alter the way it’s coming through so as to express it in a more satisfying way.

It’s a way of describing taking the automatic out of psychological responses, and controlling the dosage up or down, so that they better fit, for me, specific situations. While I can’t control responses per se I can titrate them so they’re closer to my purpose.

There are some definitions if you search ‘titration psych’ although it also refers to working out the dosage of medication.

Thank you :)

Let me add I’m not titrating every thought or feeling. There’ll be one in the series though that I’ll sense can be re-dialed and I’ll act on to subtly course redirect.

Sometimes something difficult for everyone asks me to consent.

I wait until I’m ready to.

My imagination is exhausted. Reality is too convoluted for it.
