Not sure if anyone is into photography but we had a local man here who was a very dear friend and patient for many many years. Peter Peryer

Peter had such a wonderful laugh, I can hear it in my head. He passed away behind the wheel of car on the way home from airport.

One of my favourite photos is whitebait in a bucket.

There was something so special about him, I honestly can’t explain it. If I could have his art I would but so expensive!

MF, what an interesting person this Peter must have been! Also, when seeing the people such as in the video, from Australia or New Zeeland, it always strikes me how far away it is from Europe and the U.S. and yet it's so close to britishness (hope you don't take it as an insult :? )

My wife often says she'd like to see New Zeeland "one day", which crudely and realistically means when her mother has died, and when we have finally let go of this house/farm that takes up too much of our time and effort, and if, and only if, we are still in reasonable health and survive the transition from middle-aged semi-retired people to really old farts.

I joked the other day with her in the car:
— You know, if I ever get to seventy I simply won't give a damn what people think anymore.
— You don't now, either.
— No, but really. I'd go to the dentist and say, pull it all out and put in new ones, I want to be able to see myself smiling in the mirror for once in my life.
— Wow... What else?
— I could start doing burglaries from stores instead of saving up to the stuff I want. Do you think they're going to put an old geezer behind bars?
— In fact, they...
— They'd have pity on me. "Look your honor, it's only a couple of cases of wine and some sweets. He's old and rather limited..."
— You could paint in prison, at least.
— And I'd go skydiving! Bungee jumping! Just for the hell of it. I'd be scared shitless now, but if something happens then, what a way to go! There wouldn't be many years left anyway.

Here's a sketch I did from a photo taken in an old convent up in the mountains. Life as a monk back in the day must have been simple. Ora et labora. I get up early in the morning anyway. No internet porn...btw did they jack off to the images of nude saints? I knew a guy once that was sent to a seminary, nine years old...a horror story for another time. All that aside, imagine only the prayers, the frugal meals, the simple labours, meditation, sleep. And repeat. Repeat.

Hi Troebia

No offence taken, my family is from Yorkshire in the UK. My home has some Yorkshire artwork to remind me of where they came from. There is something beautiful about the Yorkshire rose, yet I still can’t find decent artwork to represent it.
