Scratching certain surfaces

Post by common-bluebell »

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to freak out when I see or hear someone running their nails along a seatbelt or other certain materials like the cloth in a car or on a couch maybe. Smooth surfaces like plastic or metal are fine, but it’s the scratching of the fabric that bothers me. If a stranger does it, I have to try to get a grip, but if my boyfriend does it I have to “wipe all of the sound off of his fingers”. I take each finger seperately and wipe off the finger nails with my hand. It sounds crazy, I know. But I was wondering if anyone else has a similar issue?

Thanks,

Here's an article from the University of Washington about Misophonia and it's opposite, ASMR that you might find interesting
