Mapping Emotions: Depression Summarized Perfectly

I saw this article on NPR in which they mapped where people report they feel emotions. What struck me was the difference between "sadness" and "depression". It is possibly the best illustration of the difference I have ever seen. Check out the article.

I think anyone who's been depressed knows what that shows but, lord, explaining it to people who've only been sad is damn near impossible. At least for me, I don't feel ANYTHING when I'm depressed. Sadness is lovely by comparison.
