Re: Intrusive thoughts
Not exactly, but I do/have done 2 similar things: 1. I often imagine these types of scenarios before they occur (and they usually end up not occurring). Like getting into arguments about random things, getting fired, my mom being a bitch about whatever she feels like being bitchy about today. I play...

Re: Seeing a therapist for binge drinking and procrastinatio
Just making the call is one of the hardest parts, so good job getting that done! From what I can see, I think therapy would definitely be helpful, especially since you're focused and know exactly what you want to work on. That can be hard to parse out and identify sometimes as well.

Welcome!
Try and find doctors with a sliding scale that will work with you. Although when I had a therapist who did that, it was still $50, so that sucks.

It can be hard to get out of your comfort zone and do something new. I'm married now, but before that, I used to freak the fuck out at anything romantic. I mean, I wanted it, but it always made me nervous as hell. So you're not alone.

Re: stuff that helped me
I love yoga! I feel so calm after. I've been wanting to do more vigorous exercise, because I've heard that it helps...I jogged for a few weeks, but I found that I was so tired in the morning I couldn't stick with it, and evenings can be hard. I also never got to the point where it made me feel good ...

Re: Peddling my wares
Thanks! I recently had to decide whether or not to renew my contract selling there. I hadn't heard anything from them for a while, so I had assumed I hadn't sold anything. I decided to renew and consider the space rental fee a donation, and then when I stopped by I saw that I'd sold 3 more necklaces...

I'm so jealous about this! This is one thing I miss about living in the NYC area. Lots of cool things can't/don't make it to down where I live.

Re: Episode 244: Natural Highs – Neuropsychologist Matt Bell
How long does it take to get "good" at this practice? I do yoga, and I can barely keep my mind quiet for the 5 minute shavasana at the end. I do feel relaxed after the hour yoga session, but that part in particular I find difficult. I feel like maybe I should try meditation, just because i...

It's good that you're getting help. I have similar fantasies about running away, or about being something better. (Not the prostitutes though, not my thing.) I so understand the desire to pretend to be somewhere/someone else.

Re: Can you do EMDR with someone you don't like?
I think it depends on whether you think you can get what you need out of it, despite not liking her. It sounds like you can't. (Which is totally understandable. I don't think I could get past that either. I had a therapist I didn't like once, and while I liked that she challenged me more than others...
