Beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. Your wife is a lucky person to have someone so supportive & encouraging on her side. Wishing you the best!

Re: Alcohol
I decided to ease off on the booze in the beginning of December. Definitely more abuse than addiction. Have had moments of heavy, daily drinking, which of course equaled poor health, bad decisions, a general mess... I haven't quit, but no more at home like I was and moderation when I go out those ra...
Re: Phones
I love marathon conversations with friends, as long as I have the energy for it. BUT - I often use having my ringer off during the week at work as a way to excuse myself from ignoring calls... I can see you're calling mom, but I'm going to ignore it and text you the next day apologizing that I didn'...

Re: lost "life-partner" to suicide
... and I hope that either way you are able to trust that your presence was part of the good pile in his life even if the bad pile eventually overwhelmed him. That reminded me of a quote from Doctor Who: The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't alw...

Re: As shy here as I am in real life
Welcome to the forum adrivahni! Perhaps I'm not an "old fuck" as you say, but I can relate to the feeling of not getting past stuff in my twenties when we're "supposed" to. In fact pretty sure it's only gotten worse as I've gotten older. You have good advice - go get help!! Now i...

Re: no words - tw
Nope you are definitely not alone. I have marathon phone conversations with a close friend of mine who says the exact same words all the time. And yes, I have had those feelings before as well. Earlier this week as a matter of fact. Perhaps not the chest hurting, but something was going on in my hea...

Re: Anxiety as an appendage.
I agree wholeheartedly with what Chell said, great way to think about it! It never ceases to amaze me that as I talk openly about my struggles with other people, they share their own experiences with anxiety. That we can live "normal" lives with that blasted thing hanging off of us.
