Re: Nonverbal Learning Disorder

I would have to guess that one of the most beautiful things about the human mind is plasticity, and our ability to reason, accept, and see things from a different perspective. In fact I really had no idea I was in the throes of the grieving process over the diagnosis so late in life, but I was. Some...

Re: 100% Agreement

I whine a lot on these forums as I too have multiple chronic diseases that by themselves aren't too bad, but combined they mount up. Yet, I know someone who has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, formerly known as Regionalized Sympathetic Dystrophy. She's lost the use of one leg, and she say's the pain...

Re: Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew

It really is in everything. Who knew Twizzlers were made out of flour? It is a very difficult diet to be on, it's expensive and the gluten free breads and stuff don't always taste very good. Gluten free pizza does not taste like what I remember pizza tasting like, but that was 35 years ago since I l...

Re: Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew

Drew interviewed a celebrity who has Celiac disease. I can't remember her name, but she claims CBS fired her from a show I've never watched because of the complications from having Celiac and being exposed to gluten. During that attack interview Drew was the biggest horse's ass I've ever seen. His k...

Re: Nonverbal Learning Disorder

Before I knew I had NVLD, it seemed like some malevolent force continuously kept me from achieving goals, jobs and relationships. I'd be on the cusp of a good job except for that fifth grade arithmetic test which I could not pass. The HR people look at me like 'WTF', and say in a nice way, forget it...

Re: Pulling things out of my skin.

It is my humble opinion this fascination with pulling things out, squeezing tweezing and such is an ingrained survival trait. Tell me, who doesn't enjoy popping a zit? Or finding a smallish abscess-large zit and feeling the 'pop' and stuff jet out? These things have the potential to harbor pathogens...

Re: Nonverbal Learning Disorder

I appreciate that, and intellectually I know I am not my diagnosis, or disorder or disease, but there are just so damn many. I got four different chronic diseases, three of which impact things negatively, which includes the NLD. My self esteem was shot to hell a long time ago, I mean I have PTSD ove...

Yeah, I suppose that's true. Regarding sex we live in the United States of Guilt. Stupid puritans.

Nonverbal Learning Disorder

There's so much to say about this, I don't know where to start. I was diagnosed in my FIFTIES. Should have been when I was seven or eight. But, back in late 60's and early 70's this didn't exist. Medically speaking, that is. NLD is where the right side of the brain is missing white matter, the stuff...
