Re: For those who want to break free from a Narcissist

Adam-

Sounds like she was employing the classic "projection" technique on you by calling you a narcissist. I was at the receiving end of that, too. It's amazing how absolutely detached from reality they can be.

Best of luck on your recovery!

For those who want to break free from a Narcissist

About 5 years ago, I started a relationship with a man who turned out to be a textbook case Narcissist. I don't want to go into specifics (cause really, at this point they bore me) but I struggled for almost 3 years (of a 4 year relationship) to get away from this man and to regain control of my lif...

Re: sexually transmitted infections...

cmugs- I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I can only imagine how it must feel to lose the "love" of someone because of HSV. But as cliched as this sounds, how much did this person really love you if an unfortunately common virus cause him to retreat like this? It's probably bette...

Re: It really works

Congratulations on over 20 years sobriety! That's an amazing feat!

What support groups did you attend? I'm interested in joining one for my drug use, but wasn't sold by the few NA meetings I attended. I'm looking for other options.

Re: Is PRE partum depression a thing, or am I just losing gr

Hey PaintedLady- I just wanted to say that I related to a lot of what you said in your post…more specifically staying in a relationship you know is doomed because you believe no one else will love you, then becoming unexpectedly pregnant and feeling trapped. I understand the cycle of self-defeat tha...

Re: Hugs? Maybe but just a caring ear to help me out.

First off, I want to say that it saddens me to no end that despite working 6 days a week, you still don’t have health insurance. I certainly don’t want to go on a rant about our nation’s health care, but since your concussion could very well be contributing to your current state of mind, I think our...

Abusive Relationships Section

I've looked around and I can't seem to find a section dealing with abusive relationships; the mental illness that causes someone to stay in one, the mental illness that results from being in one, as well as the mental illness that causes someone to become abusive. Today, my therapist and I have star...

Re: recently seperated from my husband

I know this thread is from a few months ago, but I can't help but respond... I'm in the same situation you're in. Or were in (still trying to get out). And I had the same thought as you: "Maybe I'm not being open and honest enough about myself and that's why the relationship is failing." S...

Re: sexually transmitted infections...

Thanks for sharing your story AlbertFiennes. It actually has helped. Just this morning I was thinking about how having to deal with telling future partners is going to be such a daunting task. And I started worrying about how those prospective lovers might be less attracted to me or view me as gross...

Re: sexually transmitted infections...

Thank you for posting this. I’m still having a hard time coming to grips with being diagnosed with HSV-II over a year ago. I had gotten a routine STD test when I became pregnant and was absolutely shocked when the nurse said I had herpes. Especially since I had never experienced an outbreak and knew...
