Teaching emotionally disturbed children
I'm a teacher, and I recently just got a long-term sub job in an urban middle school. The poverty rate is significant and it has it's fair share of behavioral problems. During one of my prep periods, it's my job to cover the In School Suspension room teacher on her break. It varies day to day, somet...

Porn Addiction
So, without going too much into my own story - here's the premise. When I was in elementary school, probably between 2nd and 3rd grade, a kid from my class convinced me to have sex with him. I am also male. He said that we should have "butt sex" and that it would be fun. He said I could pu...

Re: My brain is really good at ruining everything I love
Thanks for your response, oak! I'm still feeling pretty down today, and it really helped to hear someone who's had the same experience. I have the same experience you describe nearly every time I go on facebook and see what some of my acquaintances are doing. Especially people who I was mean to year...

My brain is really good at ruining everything I love
Without getting into the specifics of my life, I just want to vent a little. I go to therapy, I'm on the right path, but these past couple weeks have been down. I'm not looking for advice, just want to share. I've really been enjoying the Nerdist podcast, discovered it through the MIHH. I've been go...

Re: Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew
manuel - I'll have to check it out! Other people who's opinions I respect like Dr. Drew (Chris Hardwick being one of them). Maybe it's more the context of that one show I don't like...

Re: Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew
Fair enough, all great responses. Dr. Drew really only bothers me on Dr. Drew On Call. From what I've seen of it, it's really just a step away from Nancy Grace. Mostly I'm bothered by his other panelists. It's VERY judgmental, and that's what people want to hear. I feel like people watch Dr. Drew an...

Re: The Mental Illness Documentary Paul mentioned
I checked around PBS.org and it kept coming up with an older documentary from 2009.
After a little more digging, I found the website for the doc - http://www.eachmindmatters.org/great-minds-gallery/
They said that after it premiere's on May 30th, they'll have it up there to view.

Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew
Any feelings on these two TV psychologists? I usually like Dr. Drew on certain shows, but his "Live on Call With Dr. Drew" is infuriating. Also not a huge fan of Dr. Phil, who seems like he's using his expertise just to humiliate his guests for the sake of entertainment. I also question wh...

The Mental Illness Documentary Paul mentioned
In the Ashly Burch episode, Paul mentioned that his podcast was covered by a PBS doc made in California. I'm from the east coast, does anyone know if I would be able to get access to it?
