Re: Running on Empty: Overcoming Childhood Emotional Neglect
I haven't read 'Running on Empty' yet, but I plan on attaining it soon from the library. I just read an article about emotional neglect and it blew my mind. http://www.pete-walker.com/pdf/emotionalNeglectComplexPTSD.pdf This was the first time I heard of someone else experiencing the same "crip...

Didbakenaked's Diary
All I want to do is eat. I just finished watching videos of people eating because I shouldn't eat before I go to work out. Why can I not handle being alone? What about being by myself do I find so intolerable that I need to numb and distract myself? When I think about my life I am really content. By...

Guilty Notes
So for the third time now, I listened to the episode with Dr. Guy Winch about feeling guilty. Yes, I have felt guilty my entire life. I feel guilty immediately after any happy or proud moment I have. Most recently I felt guilty after being hired by a great company, with great hours, with great pay, ...

Ahhhhh, I've been in this kind of situation.. a lot. What I keep telling myself is that people are more interested in themselves (i.e. so I don't over think any time when I think they are avoiding me,) this is natural. Be happy when you do have an opportunity to spend time connecting with another pe...

I have been reading Geneen Roth's "When Food is Love," and also many articles about narcissistic parents. I'm 26 and I've been a compulsive eater since I was 8 or 9. I didn't understand until I read this book, this week, that it has nothing to do with the food. I thought it had at least so...

Re: What do you do to comfort yourself?
I eat almost every time I have anxiety. After that doesn't help I will hug my dog, write a journal entry to try to make sense of it. When that doesn't work, I go for a run, (if I didn't eat enough to incapacitate myself). When running doesn't work, I will try to watch a movie or show to numb my feel...

Menstruation relating to Bipolar
I tend to experience a manic session during PMS and then it is followed by a bout of depression. It really happens once a month. What is up with this? Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

There is a Trader Joe's in Hillcrest, San Diego where I can not go to anymore. I went once at 5 p.m. on a Friday and everyone was on their cell phone, in a hurry, and it was a small space. I also had no idea where anything was. This spawned a full fledged panic attack.
