Re: Nobody wants an old broad

I second the comment about the blog. Pick a name for it that doesn't tie you to it and make yourself anonymous. If you have FB and stuff never post anything that you'd not want an employer to see. I avoid political stuff and anything that might get them thinking "do we really want to hire this ...

Re: dad in lockup

I've been working on the boundaries, setting them has been tough for me. I've made it two full days, maybe it's working. Haven't heard from them but I got a slew of txts from other family members that I just deleted.

Nice to have a few days off out of the rat race.

Re: dad in lockup

I really don't think people do. The mom issue keeps a lot of people in therapy. He's still in, might be released Wednesday if all goes well. Mom saw him for a bit today when they met with a social worker, mom didn't say what happened but she sounded mad, so I guess the SW suggested something she did...

Hi

Ryeish here, hello all. About myself. Raised in the NE US in a fairly mixed up family. Mom's side is a huge Italian family, very very close. Dad's side wasn't. Gpa was fairly quiet and withdrawn, gma is bitter and not too fun to be around. She's Quebecois, really hates my mom still after 50+ years o...

Re: dad in lockup

I'm in my late 40s, dad mid 70s. But his mom issue has been going on a long time. I cut off most contact when I couldn't deal with his narcissistic attitude anymore. For me I'd just tell him to knock it the hell off but when he started that on my daughter I put my foot down. If they want to talk to ...

Re: Mother/Family as a trigger

My family is still a huge trigger for me. I can plan to visit them and be in a great mood but within ours of visiting my mood goes to hell and I have to escape. Once they visited me here and after a few hours I was violently ill. They left the next day and I felt better quickly. But still, even a ca...

dad in lockup

dad has been treated for depression for a long long time. lots of it is family issues, he hates his mother and the focus of his life is his mother. every conversation involves him spending an hour ranting about what an evil person she is. yesterday he went off the handle about her, left his home and...

Beaten down

The last few weeks have been rough. Work has been a nightmare. Thankfully I've been applying for other jobs, which gives me a little boost when I hit the submit application button. I don't mind what I do but I spend my day dealing with people's problems (I work in IT) and I'd love to receive a call ...
