Re: Being rejected for your feelings and experiences.
I always try to be warm and friendly, and it's not even funny how "co-narcissistic" I am, to use the terminology from the Rappaport article. But that's probably part of the problem. If nothing else, I mentally equate more friends with more bending over backwards and that keeps me in check....

Re: Terrified by moderation (I think this goes here...)
manuel_moe_g, that's actually pretty killer advice. My last psychologist (last year) mentioned something to that effect, and I'm not sure why it slipped my mind. I have some little nieces, and my psychologist asked me how I react to them when they get upset, or sad, or angry. I replied that I would ...

Re: Discouraged with therapy and my life
Posts like yours make me feel ashamed for complaining about anything, and at the same time astonished you have made it this far. This probably isn't appropriate (may manuel_moe_g have mercy on my soul), but I can honestly say that if I had found myself in my mind's rendition of your childhood, I wou...

Being rejected for your feelings and experiences.
In one of the "get to know you" posts, one of the comments (made by BartimusP) said: just by way of human experience, a lot of what you're feeling is universal (maybe not at the same level but...) and if you can manage to open up, most decent folks will be able to listen and relate to some...

Re: Terrified by moderation (I think this goes here...)
manuel_moe_g hit the nail right on the head (one of them anyway). I am not compassionate to myself. Until literally a couple months ago I had never seen "yourself" as the object of the word "compassionate." From my admittedly twisted perception, self-compassion appears synonymous...

Terrified by moderation (I think this goes here...)
For starters, I'm not sure where to put this as I feel like it is related to OC P D, not explicitly OCD. It falls in line with the first two diagnostic criteria of OCPD: is preoccupied with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedules to the extent that the major point of the activity is...

Re: Long story short, I'm "doing my best."
George: God would never let me be successful; he'd kill me first. He'd never let me be happy. Therapist: I thought you didn't believe in God? George: I do for the bad things. Oh god, that was a good laugh. I forgot about that, and it's so freaking true. My reference to Sisyphus' punishment was the ...

Long story short, I'm "doing my best."
Hey all, My name is David. The title was a half-hearted attempt to give myself a positive affirmation and not obsess over having a "perfect title." I am a perfectionist; I get it from my mom, who, like me, is also a bit batshit. Diagnoses I've been formally diagnoses with, heard thrown aro...

Re: Cornucopia of Personality Disorders
Hey Brandon, My name is David, and, quite frankly, the title gave me a good laugh. I just came to the forum for the first time with the intent of feeling connected, and your post caught my eye. I too have plethora of diagnoses, unsure where one begins and the other ends. ADHD-C, Social Anxiety Disor...
