Manipulative mother
I feel like I've been posting in the forum a lot these days but there's been a lot of life changes and stuff going on. I've also posted about my mother before but the situation is escalating. Basically we've had a rocky relationship my whole life. She has no concept of boundaries, I've never had a s...

Re: Telling unsupportive family
Thanks guys! It's always reassuring to hear from people with similar experiences. A lot of my friends have really close relationships with their parents and are shocked when they hear how things are for me which just makes me feel worse. One of the psychologists at my school told me in the fall &quo...

Telling unsupportive family
(I'm aware there's a similar thread on this topic but it's over a year old and my situation is fairly different) I have a complicated relationship with my parents which is smoother for all parties now that I'm going to university 4,000 km away. They are emotionally abusive and manipulative, they hav...

Re: Meds
I've only been on meds for about a month, the psych gave me 2.5 mg of resperidone first which completely mellowed me out, I laughed at kitchen appliances for three days. I was feeling super foggy though and it freaked me out so I recently switched to Lamotrigine and I'm working up to 100 mg. The swi...

I know I'm shit, but am I diagnosable shit?
I'm going to preface this by saying I'm having a hard time formulating thoughts because I'm in a downward slump. Logging into the site was hard enough, and now there's this blank page in front of me. There's a lot of debate in my life over whether or not I am Mentally Ill. My friends say I need help...

Suicide just seems easier (TW)
All that got me through high school was the thought that things had to get better once I graduated. Now it's been almost six months, I moved across the country, I started university, some things are way better but my mental health isn't one of them. I was so attached to the idea that becoming indepe...

Re: First contact since moving out?
Thanks guys! The visit went well, though I had a nasty cold. She didn't ask me any uncomfortable questions or look through my stuff (as far as I know). It was nice to see her but 48 hours was enough to remind me why I moved out.

First contact since moving out?
It's been almost two months since I moved across the country to start college and live on my own for the first time. I've been doing really well, I'm making friends and enjoying school. My mental health is still concerning but I'm much more relaxed and self-confident now that I have control over my ...

alternatives for maternal attention?
I wasn't really sure whether to put this here or under family issues, sorry if it doesn't fit. (but the issue now is my relationships with others, not my family) My parents have always been pretty emotionally absent, especially my mother, who can be extremely self centred. Long story short I've alwa...
