Diagnose adult adhd?
I'm a male in my early fifties and lately I've wondered if I have ADHD. I know I've had a lot of depression and anxiety my whole life, but lately I've wondered if there's something more. My question for the group is how is ADHD diagnosed in adults? I've taken online tests that will have questions li...

Re: Weary's Diary
I hope you don't mind me just making a quick post. I'm going through the various posts, and reading your situation was definitely moving, and inspiring. I also have been wallowing in a stalled career, and seeing things brightening for your is great. Great news for you, I'm sure and gives hope to me....

Re: NotMeNotYou Never Go Home
I went back for 3 days to visit my brother and my Mom. A fairly pleasant trip, mostly because I paid for a hotel room instead of sleeping on my brother's couch. My brother's unemployment continues after several years, and he takes all his info from Fox News. He blames everything on Obama and illegal...

Re: Self-compassion
Just adding my support.... your words describe what I often feel. It's a daily struggle to show self-compassion, and show self-compassion for my own slow progress in learning self-compassion.

NotMeNotYou Never Go Home
My Dad died about 2 years ago, and my Mom is in a nursing home. My brother lives nearby and visits her several times a week. They live in the Midwest, I have lived in California the past 3 years, and lived on the East Coast for 22 years before that. I work completely from home, so I could really liv...

Re: Sad...as usual
I just want to express my sympathy, because I often feel that way myself. The details of my life are different, but I often feel sad, and scared I will never feel differently. I think everything I've ever tried to do in my life, and this sad existence is all it comes down to. But I have coping mecha...

Re: Smell this. Sex abuse?
Good question. I don't know exactly what would be the best outcome. I don't see how there would be an outcome. Whatever he did or didn't do, he's dead now. I think my only option is accept the ambiguity.

Smell this. Sex abuse?
Often on the podcast, a guest or survey writer will describe something that is clearly abuse and say 'not sure it counts as abuse'. Many times I've heard this and yelled at my ipad 'Of course that's abuse!' I like to think at the age of 48 I've let fall the scales from my eyes, and I see things clea...

My intro - for your consideration
I've been listening to the podcast for about a year, and is definitely the highlight of my week. I'm a middle aged man who is single and has no kids. I've never been diagnosed with any particular illness, but I definitely suffer from depression and low self-esteem. I sometimes wonder if I'm bipolar,...
