Pregnancy and ADD
My husband and I are about to start a family. I'm very excited but also very nervous - partly because I have ADD and will have to go off my meds for the duration of the pregnancy (following the advice of my psychiatrist and gynecologist). I know I might have to deal with things like morning sickness...

Disability Accommodations for ADHD?
I have been taking Vyvanse to manage my ADHD (technically "ADHD without hyperactivity") for several years, but I am going off my meds for a while (whole other story, and I am doing it with the help and supervision of my psychiatrist). It turns out that my company - where I've been working ...

Re: What do you do to comfort yourself?
Lately I find myself watching a lot of ASMR videos (particularly hair play videos). I also find it very calming to drink tea, particularly chamomile before bed. One thing that helps my overall stress/anxiety level is walking outside for maybe half an hour each day. During the week I get this walking...

How do I explain my aunt's mental illness to my kids?
Full disclosure: my husband and I don't have kids yet, but we will within the next couple of years or so, and this has been on my mind a lot. My maternal aunt suffers from OCD with schizophrenic affect. She doesn't see things or hear voices, but she has paranoid delusions that drive her obsessive be...

Re: S.O. Discouraging Medication/Therapy
The staying in together instead of going out isn't an issue, but the fact that she makes you feel like a nag for getting her to pay her share of the bills, help you with chores, etc. is kind of a big problem. It does not sound like a healthy relationship and you all but admitted that you're staying ...

Re: health anxiety/hypochondria, when to seek help
Actually, freaking out about getting your wisdom teeth removed is not all that unusual, if you know what some of the risks are. Nerve damage is not what you have to worry about though - the big risk is that you'll have a bad reaction to the sedatives/anesthesia. My mother - who is an anesthesiologis...

Re: S.O. Discouraging Medication/Therapy
Maybe try a lower dose of Cymbalta? If that doesn't work, move on to something else. It can take a long time to find the right meds but your quality of life will be so much better when you do! Regarding your girlfriend: the fact that she thinks she can outwit her therapists is a bad sign. I've had b...

Re: Bipolar II and infatuation
Keep working on it! Make sure you talk to your doctor about how long it should take to adjust to the meds, and if they're not working for you, work with him/her to try something different. It can take a while to find the right meds and the right dosage but once you do it will really help you get on ...

Re: Feeling numb and bored with life
It could be the time of year, partly. I don't normally have depressive tendencies, but I always find February/early March a time of high anxiety and low energy. I'm curious to know whether you will perk up as the weather gets warmer - I hope so!

Are you seeing a therapist? Have you spoken to him/her about this?
