Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Personally, it's one of my least favorite, overhyped holidays. LOL I hope 2012 i...

Today This American Life played The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris. David Sedaris and Chevy Chase (Christmas Vacation) have gotten me through more than one holiday season. Enjoy!

Re: How do I tell those close to me that I need help?

I have a suggestion - are you still in school? If so, can you talk to a school counselor? That may be a less intimidating first step than talking to your parents or other family members. S/he may be able to guide you through the process of approaching your parents and asking for help. I agree with e...

Re: Best Insurance Companies/Types for Mental Health Care

Yeah, I used to cry in therapy a lot. Not fun, but I felt so much better afterward. One thing I found helpful was to take an hour after therapy to be by myself - I wouldn't go home right away. I'd go to a diner or a bookstore or something and have a cup of tea and read, or just browse. I really need...

Re: This feels so weird

When I'm depressed I can't sleep - that is a special kind of hell for those of us with anxiety. For me, being ab...

#31 Nathan Rabin

I am reading Nathan Rabin's book, "The Big Rewind: A Memoir Brought to You by Pop Culture." It's awesome! I'm going to have to listen to his interview again after I'm done.
