Re: Anxiety-based depression
Hi LimitedAdventure, yes I have talked to my therapist about the bullying, and I know I should find it a safe place to say what I need to, but in my family, especially with my dad it has always seemed as if you can't have a voice, I want a place where I can scream and curse and vent

Hi Pandora's Box, does your dad yell at you or scold you for talking about emotional things?

I tried to talk to him today, it didn't end too well, but he later told me that I can be mad or emotional if i need to and that's ok, his love won't change. Today was hard at first but I felt like I really got to connect with him.

Re: Anxiety-based depression
I wonder if maybe your dad getting mad at you like that over time maybe caused you to have a negative association with talking about emotional things, so that no matter who you're talking about emotions with, it triggers anxiety and that would why you would get anxious in the therapist's office.
If the therapist is good, the therapist has seen people getting anxious before about talking about intimate, personal things. And the therapist will know over time how to help you to feel comfortable.
So, your dad, it sounds like, had some self-awareness that he had upset you. That sounds promising.

Hi LimitedAdventure, I totally agree, there is definately a lot of anxiety around the subject, I am slowly getting used to it, but it seems like a long and emotionally exhausting process. Thanks for your feedback
