Hi guys. I'm a brand new listener, I've been listening to a lot of old episodes and I'm so glad I found the podcast. There's something in every episode I relate to and it's just great.
I'm an 18 year old girl with severe depression. I take a pretty high dose of Effexor XR and it works really well for me, thank god for meds. A lot of people knock antidepressants but they have done a lot for me. I never suffered abuse or mistreatment as a kid, I think for me mental illness is a purely chemical thing. It runs in my family.
I'm also a suicide attempt survivor, which presents an entirely new set of problems. I was actually thinking of starting a thread on this forum for other attempt survivors.
Right now I'm in a pretty good place mentally, but just like everyone I have good and bad days.
In a little less than a month I'm moving all by myself from my small town in Montana to Seattle with no job, no car and no money. I'm terrified but really really excited. If anyone on here lives in Seattle and wants to give me some survival tips let me know!
I'm really happy to have found this community and to have a new favorite podcast. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Luna. I don't live in Seattle, but lived in West Seattle when I was 17 for the summer and spent a lot of time on Alki beach. Working down there helped. It was a fantastic place to people watch and meet new folks. Can't imagine much has changed.
