Greetings. I'm 52, and consider myself functionally suicidal. My first attempt was at age 8, second at 15, and here I am. I'm a fairly successful professional (engineer by degree). I've got two wonderful sons that we've been trying desperately to break the cycle in our respective families. I've spent every day since 1997 stepping outside of myself to try and set a good example. Conventional wisdom says that my sons are better off with me in the picture, so that fact alone keeps me going. I hope conventional wisdom is right, From my perspective, my life is nothing more than an incredibly painful waste of the world's resources, I guess time will tell.

Depression and anxiety distort perception negatively.

Thank you for your kindness. My head knows you may be right, but my heart, well, that's another story. I just look forward to the day that my sons are financially independent and successfully on their own.
