I'm listening to this episode with Erin Fox Bishop and I had to stop to process it all-- it's like she's talking about me. So far everything she's said has matched up with my experience: a seemingly wonderful childhood, a first depressive episode at 18, getting pregnant while on Prozac, horrible morning sickness but mentally okay, then depression after 6 weeks post-partum. It's eerie how much I'm relating to her story. I just want to shout, "YES! YES! I GET IT!"
I'm ready to live a life of joy.

The part about the firearm really bothered me and I feel like I have to say something. This is going to come across as accusatory because it is. It is absolutely unacceptable that a person would have a firearm in a house with people who don't know how to safely handle it. At a bare minimum Erin should be able to know how to drop the magazine, rack the slide to get the live round out of the chamber and put it on safe (if applicable) or in the case of a revolver, how to unload it or at least safely drop the hammer. The fact that her husband hasn't taught her this much is irresponsible. Finding a better hiding place for it isn't the right solution.
