This interview was quite enlightening. Didn't think I would be interested when I first saw it...
But her story touches on deep and familiar subjects like self-identity, self-respect, the mind-body connection, etc.
I can't imagine knowing from a young age that you're different and don't "fit into" the physical body or gender that's been "given" you. And needing to somehow navigate that as you are growing up.....
As she says, she's extremely grateful that she's had the opportunity and wherewithal to make the transition into being a woman, and to finally feel comfortable with herself.
And the powerful changes caused by the prescribed hormones illustrate how captive we are to internal workings of which we're unaware, and have less control than we'd often like.
We're "bags of chemicals" right? but so much more... Lots to think about here...
