Re: Mindfulness
Thanks MM and MF
I think indignity from routine mistreatment is an accepted part of contemporary life for a lot of people. I’m trying to get as close to a constant state of readiness to bounce those encounters.
Indignity will wear you down.

Re: Mindfulness
I’ve come up with a meditation.
First draft:
In your mind, set in front of you, is a blank piece of paper on a desk. In your hand is a pen. You can write or draw anything on the paper. What you write or draw will rise off the paper and become real. There is no urgency to choose what to write or draw.

Re: Mindfulness
i am picturing drawing a little dragon, not a major art piece, just a dragon drawn with a few swoops of the pen
the little dragon comes alive and floats and flies around the room!

I don’t need to like my colleagues
I don’t need them to like me
I’ve just realized it and suddenly I feel completely free
Free to give them my full support finally
Whoa…

Re: Mindfulness
i heard this way of putting it, which is a shocking way to put it: "What you think of me is none of my business"
when i was young, i cared <so> much about what other people thought of me
how i can hardly remember that feeling
outstanding stuff you are working on, as usual

You are the Zen Master of the forum, Beany, and we all like you, because of who you have continually revealed yourself to be
outstanding stuff you are working on, as usual

Re: Mindfulness
Getting into my disgust today;
The urge to like/dislike.
Disgust was forbidden to me growing up; because if I showed it my parents took it as a sign they weren’t perfect.
For a long time, to survive psychologically, I struggled to pretend it wasn’t there.
Now I know it’s natural and not a reflection on anyone else.
If I let myself feel disgust I can better savor and relish things genuinely.
