Re: Mindfulness
quoting the article
i think i am getting better at self-compassion, especially having compassion for my younger selves, but it is so elusive for me, i am not entirely sure i am just faking itit means we have to allow ourselves to be slow learners when it comes to practicing self-compassion.

Re: Mindfulness
Self-appreciation starts out sliding off like Teflon. With practice it starts to stick like Velcro. I’m paraphrasing Rick Hanson.
This comment is not sponsored by either Teflon or Velcro.
You’re (I’m) also struggling with powerful, long-term habituation.

Re: Mindfulness
I’m a week out from the end of the mindfulness course.
I’m finding it particularly useful to let my imagination settle down; rather than fearfully scenarize.
I’ve also started focusing on allowing other people to be kind to me.
And when situations or people present in my mind, I bring patience to thinking about them.

Re: Mindfulness
I’ve stopped trying to participate in the content of the inner dialogue. Instead I focus on softening its tone. I also introduce less certainty into it as it’s coming forth.

Re: Mindfulness
I did a 45 minute meditation last night focusing on awareness of ‘all the stuff outside my control’. It was surprisingly relaxing; letting go of many, many things.
Then today it occurred to me that the place, I’m desperate to get to; I’m already there. Already arrival.
Afterwards, (now) I’m just being alive; alive and doing less. Where ‘Doing’ as trying-to-control (trying without knowing why) is not necessary.
