Hello,

Has anybody here tried these non-alcoholic drinks? I'm just wondering how they would interact with my Prozac?

i am on the lookout for a canned virgin bloody mary, with a "kick"

https://www.drinklongbottom.com/products/virgin-mary-250ml-4-pack

longbottom virgin mary is not bad, strong note of olives, pleasing aftertaste, but, for me, could use more of a kick

My husband loves bloody Mary's. I will have to show him this site. Do they interact with your medication (s)?

boy howdy, i have only heard of grapefruit juice interacting with psychoactive medications

https://www.verywellmind.com/why-shouldnt-i-drink-grapefruit-juice-with-my-meds-380358#:~:text=Grapefruit%20can%20interfere%20with%20the,not%20the%20only%20ones%20affected.

and sometimes cranberry juice

https://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/anafranil-with-klonopin-702-355-703-357.html#:~:text=Grapefruit%2C%20grapefruit%20juice%2C%20and%20cranberry,to%20potentially%20dangerous%20adverse%20effects.

and both are rare-ish, only for the specific drugs, not like alcohol, which interacts with all kinds of medications in serious ways

if you have any specific questions, pharmacists are well trained and available to help

please take care

mm,

I think the drinks that I was referring to indicate that the "float" is maybe mushrooms that would interact with medication?

Hello Lutherangirl,

Happy New Year!

Haven't tried the stuff so no experience, but the site does list the ingredients -

OUR FUNCTIONALS
ashwagandha - relieves stress
lion's mane - promotes clarity
l-theanine - improves focus
lemon balm stabilizes - mood
passion flower - reduces anxiety
ginger - aids digestion
If you search each one, there are a number of reputable medical sites that describe positive and possible negative effects, also some drug interactions. Not clear on Prozac though.

Here's a sample site

https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-953/ashwagandha

Opposite way is to look up Prozac for negative interactions. St John's Wort comes up a lot, as well as some drugs that affect heart rate...

Maybe the company can answer, or a Mannie suggests, a pharmacist or your prescriber?

SD,

Happy New Year to you also!

Thanks for the information. I guess I'm just old school and wanted to talk with people who had the experience from an OCD-point-of-view. :D

Yes, understood.

But since that drink doesn't seem to be a mainstream item, I wonder how many people could really answer, based on actual experience. (Also, just in general how it makes them feel).

I noticed that on some of the sites there are people reporting their pro and con experiences with various drugs and herbs, like here-

BTW - Have you found that Prozac helps with OCD?

SD,

Thank you for posting this link. I guess I just have to be the human Guinea pig again and try it myself. I'm so sick of trying different supplements, medications, and therapies. :violin:

I have a pretty severe case of OCD, so I'm not really "stable". It's been since 2020, and I'm still trying different things for the right "cocktail" that will allow me to function "normal" enough to go back to work.

What medications help you with your condition?

Hello LG,

I've been taking Prozac off and on for many years for dysthymia, or low-level depression.
A little unsure how well it works now, but I've found other ways to cope in the meantime. (At the time, I felt that the "talking cure" wasn't getting me anywhere... sometimes talking just made me feel worse... and thought a pill might help, which it did. (Hadn't heard about CBT or other tools at the time).

Lately anxiety is more of a problem, and I think I have mild "O" with an obsessive or ruminating mental component that I need to remind myself to avoid... Learning to let the thought trains go before they lead to anger, sorrow or depression.

I also have intrusive negative thoughts at times too, need to let them just pass me by like the weird billboards on the road. (I've got the old "monkey mind" as I've heard it called).

Sorry that you're struggling with OCD. I saw an program on PBS where a young Olympic athlete is struggling to get thru a clothes-washing session. Every time an article would touch the spindle or elsewhere, she felt compelled to rewash it.

At first I found it hard to believe, but you can see the stress she's under during her appearances throughout the program...

https://www.pbs.org/video/ginny-fuchs-ocd-lyvh8a/

(I want to tell her to find something other than boxing too! Not so good for the brain).
