This is quite a good one for CBT and OCD.

Thanks for the CBT link Beany.

CBT is interesting to me, because it seems to have a definite goal, methods and timeline.
(Not that it isn't an ongoing effort for those of us saddled with depression and anxiety, and all the crap that goes with it! :violin:  )

I remember therapy sessions in the past where I'd just get tired of talking about myself, and couldn't see a path forward. Maybe I just didn't have enough patience, or maybe we hadn't discussed any kind of roadmap...

Do you have an experience similar to mine? I think I am a candidate for lifelong therapy because each week I engage in distorted thinking, and I need a safe place to correct that distorted thinking so that resentment doesn't build inside of me, waiting for a time to explode. Also, it seems I don't have much ability to change quickly, so I have to do everythings in baby steps.

But yeah, CBT and its offshoots are great because I can come to my therapist with specific things to work on, and we can make a plan.

I like what she says about managing uncertainty.

She calls exposure therapy, “sitting in the suck”.

:)

It’s this practice called ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention). It’s for OCD recovery.

She runs an online program called the CBT School.

I have been a fan of Kim Quinlan's podcast for quite a long time. She was a guest on MIHH before (which is where I discovered her work) and I have met her in person at OCD GameChangers in Denver. She is a real joy and her enthusiasm for bringing hope into the world is palpable. I cannot recommend her and her podcast highly enough.
