How do I tell those close to me that I need help?

Another idea is that if you live near to a university, you can often get mental health care for free from doctoral students...and you're 18 so you're free to do as you please, nobody has to be the wiser. And unless you're on or near campus you won't be seeing people like that who practically live on campus.
