fighting procrastination

Post by duck1 »

set myself a modest goal- to sum up 3 articles in a rather large project for school (summing up the 3 articles is a small component of the project).

I have decided not to allow myself to visit this forum or listen to the new episdoe coming up tomorrow until I complete this assignment.

Wish me luck :)

Good luck. Go for it.

Sometimes it helps me to break the big scary goal into small, obtainable goals, to the point where they are silly-small.

Example:

Yesterday I wanted to make a phone call, but felt anxiety.

A voice (well, not a real voice) told me that if I faced my fear, I would probably die.

I told myself that if I felt in danger of dying I could stop at any time doing the following:

1. Take my phone out of my pocket.
2. Find the piece of paper with the number I wanted to call.
3. Turn on my phone.
4. Dial the area code.

At this point I got excited about the call and just dialed away.

But that voice of anxiety, procrastination, and doom is very real!

But it can be beat.
