Progress, a short bucket list

Post by sdjustinr »

If I can feel the tightness in my chest and the experience the heavy breathing without letting it induce me into compulsive activity, I will have made progress.

If I can look at the chasm between the person I want to be and the person I am right now and feel awe instead of terror, I will have made progress.

If I can allow myself to feel awkward or experience uncomfortable vibes with another person without assuming rejection and spiraling into despair as if I'd been expelled by God from the garden of Eden, I will have made progress.

If I can talk to someone and not permit myself to be distracted by thoughts that I have ulterior motives, am subconsciously manipulating them, or am being otherwise a complete freak without even knowing it, I will have made progress,

If I can get out of my head and experience myself at any point throughout the day, at will, and acknowledge what I'm feeling, then i will have made progress.

if I can show myself compassion and support when I fail at these and other things, when i hurt people or hurt myself, when i overeat or numb out, or punish myself for doing so, then I will have made some progress.
