Performance anxiety, validation

Post by troebia »

I feel like that forgotten tool at the bottom of a drawer in the shed. Originally shiny and sharp but now rusted and forgotten. Hardly used for what it was made for, saw the light of day mainly for "just in case" and propping up other stuff. There has been some tidying up and other stuff in the drawer has gone away. Other things were simply consumed little by little, like the discs for the angle grinder. I'm still here though for some reason. Waiting?

You are not a rusty forgotten tool. Despite what your brain tells you, you are a spectacular human being, right now, with no waiting. Please be self-compassionate.

But I know what you are talking about. In my mind, I am a fundamentally broken tool. I remind myself it is part of my skewed view caused by my depression and anxiety.
