Self soothing

I learned a great move from a child bereavement specialist. She used it for children who had immigrated from war torn countries.
Hold yourself in a hug. Depending on your arm length, your fingers will be on the back of your shoulder, or your back. Now pat your fingers on your shoulder/back, gently, slowly.
I hope this helps you. I've found it soothing in hard times when I had no one to hold me.

Yeah, Heather, i also use that self-hugging trick. I learned it from my EMDR therapist, she has me alternate the pats, left hand right hand left hand right hand etc., as i process a thought i want to move from my conscious to my unconscious mind
