My Trintellix script is written and all ready to go. HOWEVER...

My therapist, who's an autistic woman near menopause like me, told me about her very successful experience with HRT (hormone replacement therapy). Apparently she was melting down on a daily basis (sounded familiar to me) and was always on edge... and she started HRT under the care of a functional medicine practice and is doing much, much better.

So I'm going to try the HRT first. Feels less conservative and if it works it should nail that awful emotional volatility, which is 50% of my struggle these days. My prescribing doc is good with it.

BUT...

I have to wait till August 15 to see the functional medicine people for the first time ! AAAAGGGH I don't want to wait any longer!

I was out running errands yesterday and JFC was I a pain in the ass to the people I ran into. It's because I feel like I'm walking around with my skin off. This has been this way for a while now and I am really hoping it settles down with treatment.

I'm so glad you have some promising ideas to try, and having a therapist who can relate to your situation sounds wonderful. I hope you have a good trip, and please keep in touch when you're able to connect again.

Agreed with our dear friend RiverGirl: it sounds like you are on the right track, TechGirl.

I don't know a whole lot about functional medicine, but what little I do know sounds very good. Much better than the current American system of throwing pills at someone.
