I love this format for self-revelation, Oak.
(I wish the damn spammers would allow for regular links in posts, I guess I will broach the subject of paid anti-spam for the forum that I pay out of pocket. The board administrator in Finland is very hard to get a hold of, though, he would have to work with me.)

Maybe this is a good a place as any for this. (No memes yet though).
So, I was getting ready for work today, and starting to ruminate and go negative about things/people. After one short internal monologue, I caught myself in the mirror.
Instantly thought "What you just did was ALL in your head, and kinda stupid, wasn't it...?"
Made a face and started laughing. Glad I can still do that sometimes....

yes, the good ol' rumination
the only thing that worked for me to keep rumination from ruining my life was medication
now i am working on getting less tripped up by negative memories or thoughts dropping into my mind from my subconscious
when it happens, i visualize taking that part of my mind that drops those negative memories or thoughts, and holding that part of my mind as a baby, and rocking and soothing that part of my mind.
this works a lot better than anything else i have tried
