Mental Fairy, I am glad I've been able to share some comforting/inspiring culture with you over the years.

Between now and New Years Day, I'd like to offer some links to music and comedy I've been enjoying lately. The music will be 80s-ish Europop, and the comedy (two a day) will come from Key and Peele, I Think You Should Leave, and The Onion.

While I hope you are out of the hospital soon, in the meantime perhaps the following eight days of links can bring a few minutes of happiness.

12/25 Europop:

Tears for Fears, "Head Over Heels"

12/25 Sketch comedy:

Key and Peele:

I Think You Should Leave, "Diner Wink"

Bonus video for Christmas

"Democracy Manifest" aka "A Succulent Chinese Meal"

(While there is nothing graphic in this, you may want to use earbuds if you're still in the hospital.)

Mental Fairy!

They say laughter is the best medicine (I also think garlic), so here is a chuckle for you:

12/26 sketch comedy

Key and Peele, "French Restaurant"

I Think You Should Leave, "Brian's Hat"

12/26 Europop

Dido, "Thank You"

Oak, thank you. So so so happy you’re here.
Last night I was fighting sickness from the medication after general anaesthetic. My new friend Tina was busy sitting the bed and going through her motions. We both ended up laughing so much we cried and the feeling of throwing up completely dissipated away. Joe brought her some Christmas presents as she knows this was her last Xmas. She has not had a single visitor at all. I will continue to check on her.

Thank you again Oak

You and Joe are true friends. You are very giving of yourself. I am sure Tina appreciates you.

Europop

The Cardigans, "Lovefool"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI6aOFI7hms&pp=ygUWbG92ZWZvb2wgdGhlIGNhcmRpZ2Fucw%3D%3D

Note:

I ugly cried, as the young people say, cathartically so, while watching this ten days ago:

The brother found himself in a mishegas, somewhere he never intended. The person he is in love with is waiting, wondering (btw, though the video is nearly thirty years old, she looks like an "ig baddie" from today). I like the idea that fate/kismet is kind and active: fate is bringing them together.

Comedy

"Nathan Fielder Duets with Marion Cotillard"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_rnFJ9QEow

While not exactly ha-ha funny, his eyes (and panic) are well worth a watch.

Mental Fairy, you're welcome! I hope you are experiencing continued recovery. Keep us posted.

Today I don't feel much like music-or-comedy.

I'll pick myself up again tomorrow. In the meantime, thanks for listening!

80s Europop

Pretenders, "Brass in Pocket"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H6re3PCP3E

Besides being a good song, two thoughts:

1. Our heroine shoots her shot, as the young people say.

2. She attended Kent State!

Comedy

Onion News Network (satire),"Attractive Girls Union Refuses To Talk With Mike Greenman"

The "Attractive Girls Union" actually gives good advice.
