I came home to find my oldest cat dead on the laundry room floor. I didn't know anything was wrong! She went to the vet a couple of months ago and they said she was extremely healthy! Poor thing was only six or so.
Worst thing is that I don't feel that bad. She wasn't my favorite cat. So needy and whined all the time! But I feel guilty for not being sadder.

Re: My cat died
Sorry to hear of the sudden loss, Herself.
Re: guilt, I think it's fine to observe that you aren't feeling the kind of thing that other pet-owners might. Judging yourself for not feeling the expected way is (going out on a limb here) probably not going to make you feel something that you flat-out just don't.
Maybe it's helpful to think that your grief might express itself in a time or in a way that you are not aware of yet, or which you haven't experienced yet. We don't all have gushy relationships with every animal we encounter, just as we don't all have universally great experiences with things like fathers.

I am sorry for your loss. One thing that I've heard a lot in life is that everyone grieves differently. There's no one right way or wrong way.
