Is it the frame or just me.

I would like to know more about it, very beautiful brush work but honestly don’t know why I am not sure how I feel about it.

Thank you M.F. for your kind comments.
About that picture: if it's under the bed instead of over, it must mean you don't like it very much?
The boats look Asian and it's probably painted there. Imo it's well executed but there's something slightly "movie poster" about it, as if the artist did these quickly in large series.
I have some pretty terrible stuff I've done on the walls, but my wife refuses to let me take them down. Maybe I'll just do the old switcheroo one day, she probably wouldn't notice...

Since "Everyone's a Critic!" may I chime in?

The picture is nice but seems a bit busy. Sometimes less is more.
The angles of the sails on the ship to the left seem to be at odds with the rest of the picture.
If I cover it with my finger, the composition seems better to me. (But what do I know....)

Here's a self portrait of our friend Ted, who did the donkey painting.

Somewhat the opposite, It was always amusing to hear Ted's wife's commentary on some of his less-worthy endeavors ;)

I love it, it looks full of positive, busy energy.

Here's a sketch I did of myself a couple of years ago as part of a drawing course. We had to choose an original angle so I placed a mirror on the floor :D

Thanks for feedback on painting. I never noticed the sails. However I try not to look at it for some reason.
The self portrait you did Troebia is rather cool. You doing back up at yourself is rather a neat angle. Better than looking down!

As soon as I saw yours SD I thought of Mrs Doubtfire.

That is excellent!
Makes me want to try... :)

BTW - Do you have any experience with the pressure sensitive drawing tablets that connect to a laptop/PC? I bought one during lockdown but haven't really used it yet.

A few reproductions from the Detroit Institue of the Arts, hanging in the airport last time thru.

Captivating. Mesmerizing. Loved this since I was a boy.

(When I was 16, I asked a girl I liked out, and suggested that we go to the DIA.
She turned me down. :? )

I have a Wacom tablet that I only use to retouch scans, using Krita (works great and is free, https://krita.org/). I prefer the messiness and unpredictability of real pens and brushes on real paper. But I've seen stuff out there done with digital brushes that looks nice and grungy too.

Hope you weren't discouraged for life by that. I could only be with someone who appreciates art...it says a lot about a person.
