Loving the replies on here. In regards to the last post, I really think those dealing with the illness (including myself) should take caution when deciding which part- the ups or down- are more pervasive or interfering. Although a depressive episode can truly be debilitating, manic episodes can take you away from who you really are, causing intense irritability, dishonesty, and ultimately a distancing from reality. I think it is so important to stress this, because although there is good to every bad, an ebb and a flow, and sometimes manic states can help with creativity and such, being in a state of mania CAN AND HAS lead to intense recklessness, which in turn has caused injuries and death. I think every response here is so helpful and wonderful, but as someone who didn't think my mania was as "bad" as my depression, many instances have occurred that has proven that is not, in fact, the case. Good luck everyone, we can all do this!
