I recently lost my therapist because of an insurance change.

I'm not sure who I'm going to see now. Hopefully my new therapist will consult with my previous therapist so she's not starting all the way over from scratch.
My abandonment issues have been pretty triggered too. I'm starting to notice how abandonment affects my mind by crashing my confidence and lowering my self-esteem.

Hello Thirty-Three3

That sucks for sure. I'm sorry to hear about it, and our system does need an overhaul, doesn't it...

Have you notified your current therapist about the situation?

With regular medical doctors, transfer of the patient's records is a standard thing, and I think you even have the right to request copies for yourself....

Regards

I am sorry to hear this, 333.

I went therapist shopping a few years ago, and it wasn't great. The only luck I had was through my EAP.

Let us know how you do.

Thirty-three3,
As someone who's dealt with abandonment issues I'm so sorry to hear about this. I wish you the best of luck that you will find an open, caring therapist that will give you a secure base.

Thanks for the support, guys.

My current therapist knows. We had our last session knowing that I would be leaving her care. Luckily, my new therapist should be in the same facility so they can consult her if needed.

In the meantime I've gotten into Zen Buddhism and sit zazen for an hour everyday to cope with the mood swings and feelings of abandonment.
