Had to put a beloved dog to sleep recently...

I am sad. When my anxiety and depression was acting up, I could touch my beloved dog Susie, and feel her warm soft fur. Now I have the depression of having to put Susie to sleep.

At least she left this world before her quality of life would have made the days into an absolute struggle. And she left this world having somebody who loves her close. That is a gift in this uncertain world.

I am so sorry you have had to do this. The only times I've instantly felt the intensity of the loss of a loved one was when my dogs passed away. Losing a companion like a dog is difficult on so many levels, and I don't think we allow ourselves to grieve as much as we need to. Let yourself cry and be sad, and really feel it, and while you will never stop missing Susie, you will be able to feel better. Sending hugs.

Please accept my sympathies for your loss. I have had pets all my life. I had to put my cat, that was 17 years old, to sleep in February. I missed his company so much. I try to concentrate on the years I had with and the fact that I didn't want him to suffer (he had cancer).

I'm not sure if it's the right advice for everyone, but I went to the animal shelter and got a new cat about six weeks later. (Yes, I felt guilty). I'm glad I did though. I found another sweet soul that gives me company and loves me no matter what. I needed company and he needed a home.

Hey Manuel, I'm very sorry. I think every day about when my dog will eventually die; I love her more than life itself. She taught me what love is. I think her dying will psychologically ruin me; I dread it so much. Be strong.

Manuel, I a so sorry. My best friend, actually my only friend, Jordan is heading down that road and I cry every time I think about him dying... I totally think I understand what you must be feeling. I hope that you find another furry friend to share life with.
