red lights

Okay, this sounds crazy, but I think red lights know I'm me and make green lights turn red. Nobody believes it until they ride with me driving a day or two, then they understand. I've tried to change my timing by sitting in the car and counting to 21, 17, or 35 then leaving. It works for an intersection or two then they catch on. I know it's just great moments in bad timing, but I hate intersections and my stomach gets tied in knots because I know the green light will taunt me until I'm just far enough away then it goes yellow red and I have to slam on the brakes. I hate it, and it sounds crazy.

Where I grew up we had timed traffic lights that always seemed to thwart me. One day I had an epiphany and realized I'm not going anywhere important so who cares if I get the red lights...
