Right back at ya darlin' Lyle was indeed "Mr. Julia Roberts" for a year or two back in the mid-90s. Yeah, her megawatt smile next to his pallor and pursed lips made for many an endearingly awkward paparazzo shot back in the media spotlight of that time.
"Save Me" is one that's always hit me hard, so thank you for that, Skylark. I remember another one that haunted me strongly from the Magnolia soundtrack. Don't remember it well, but it has her repeating "it's not gonna stop" and it was used over a montage of the various characters being pummeled by their miseries. It became for me almost a Buddhist incantation that I'd hear in my head when depressed; as in, it's not going to stop (this pain of existence) so embrace the suffering rather than seek its end. Still haven't mastered that...

Whoa, Skylark! I had completely missed your post of you doing the Chili Peppers! Hey everybody--did you see that!? You got skillz, Sky' !!!! Whew--what a nice surprise. In particular I love hearing women cover male vocalists and vice-versa. Wow... very nicely done. Keep doing music, girl!!
Also--know very little of Lorde, but every exposure to her wows me. She is a wise woman, crazily so for her age. I couldn't go near "Fire and Rain" though--couldn't risk having to spend tomorrow in bed with a box of tissues. Thanks for the fun thread.

I'd like to lie back in the certainty, the certainty of you/ But now I realize there is nothing, there is nothing absolute.

The song you're thinking of, Grock, is Wise Up. I love that one too.

Ooh, such a pretty song, perhaps my favorite part of "Her." Great job on that! OK, my turn... and this is a *good* one:
