Hello BB,

May I ask about Sub Goal 1b - the origami goldfish?
Any updates? Do you have a design, and paper yet?

Origami has fascinated me since seeing the Origami Christmas tree at the Museum of Natural History in NYC.

https://secretnyc.co/origami-tree-natur ... -tree-nyc/

It's been awhile, but I've done a number of them in the past, and you've inspired me to start again.

Knowing what size paper to start with is sometimes a problem - if it isn't specified, some of the folds become impossible as you go along, when doing a complex design. (But sometimes the simpler form are more elegant and evocative too)

There are designs that use dollar bills, so the size is fixed, and they can even incorporate elements of the printing into the finished figure - there's a dolphin with one of the whorls as the eye, etc.

There's a dollar bill goldfish deigned by Won Park that I've been thinking about for a couple of years, but have been afraid to attempt (you'll see why!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_waxbQuqPWw

But I'm starting with gold foil paper, and have kept the aspect ratio but increased the dimensions by 3 or 4 times to make things easier...
Gulp.... :?

Wishing you the best!

It’s tempting but it’s a Koi. I’m focused on goldfish. Don’t ask my why. I don’t know. I’ve done this one which is about my skill level:

I won’t go much further than that as I suspect the goldfish is just a doorway; behind which something else is waiting.

Or I need some sleep.

I love the rhythm of this sentence, as well as its mysterious content!

There’s an origami style that adopts sculpting the paper as much as folding it. I also think the goldfish represents for me the event of coming alive.

There’s a woman at the cinema I go to who is an excellent conversationalist. She engages me without me doing much. I like listening to her.

One of my co-workers is also like that. I like listening to her, when she volunteers her own stuff to share. The moment is preceded by an emotion-filled pause that makes me think it’s very important to her that I understand her life. I live for that shit.

Subgoal 4b progress:

A colleague comes into my workspace. He seems to take up all the space. He’s looking for something in the cupboards. He finds/doesn’t find what he’s looking for, talking to himself loudly or humming the entire time – it never occurs to him that he’s interrupting me. He leaves. He leaves all the cupboards open. I close the cupboards.

I am disproportionately furious.

Then a lightning bolt hits. His mother ‘let’ him take up all the space. His mother closed the cupboards behind him.

His mother did not like him… because he forced her to continuously stop what she was doing to give him her full attention for trivial stuff.

I’m furious for his mother.

Lesson 1. Women are forced to accommodate men in countless, relentless little ways that men are raised to be blind to. I personally need to dismantle ‘that’.
