Re: Destigmatize Mental Illness

My therapist is Holistic. And I just remember this one time I was saying that I was wondering if it was some permanent chemical imbalance. And she seemed so disbelieving of the possibility. I do understand that there is quite a bit that can be healed with the power of intention and meditation.

But I don't know if I'd go as far as to believe that 100% of the time, we do this to our self. As if every illness in the world is created by it's host's thoughts.

To some degree, yes, sure, it's possible.

I'm not on meds anymore and I hated them. But by all means if they are working for anyone else I encourage them to take them. I don't ever think that it's something to be taken lightly. I have a physical trainer who is bi-polar and through training and diet changes she was able to get off her medication. And that's great! But every single body and mind and make up is different.

I just wish people would accept that. Power to you for staying on of they make you happy. It's not at all a weakness, or a crutch. If one day you feel strong and confident enough to try and ease off, go for it. But if it doesn't work out, there's no shame in taking them! None at all. You're so much better for taking the steps to enjoy your life.
