Effexor and crying

Post by HollowMan »

I am on 300mg of Effexor/day currently and a couple days ago, I went out to get groceries and on my drive there I started crying uncontrollably. This is something I've never experienced before. I haven't cried in at least 5 or 6 years (the start of my psychological issues). I was scared more than anything, just saying, "what is wrong with me?" I had one beer a little earlier, so I was wondering if anyone had this reaction before from Effexor?

First off, to be clear, I have never taken Effexor and know nothing about it specifically. However, maybe the Effexor has a stimulating effect on your overall nervous system, and without it you would have just felt upset, but with it you were sort of "charged up" and actually started crying.

More in the past, sometimes still, I would take a Choline supplement only when I was going out with people, especially if I didn't sleep well, but not on a regular schedule. One particular time last year my sister picked me up to go Christmas shopping, but then we got in a fight about something small, and I suddenly was crying in her car, which sort of shifted into an anxiety attack (I couldn't control my breathing). So, I think I would have been upset either way, but since I was taking this stimulating supplement it primed me to kind of tip over the edge.

Hi Hollowman, I think it's highly possible that the beer you had could have had something to do with it as I am on a similar dose of the same crap, loved a beer before I started it but now I find a beer just makes me feel really down.
I am somewhat worried I come across as a know-it-all in a lot of my posts, so please allow me to use this space to make it clear that I actually don't know shit and am just trying to be helpful.

Thanks for the replies. That does sound exactly like what happened to me PopUpStopShop. The crying started first and then it went into a full blown panic attack like I have had in the past, but not for a long time. I was thinking it might have been from the beer. Stopping drinking is hard for it's own reasons though...
