I've got a patch of black eyed susans blooming and I'm enjoying watching goldfinches disappear into them (I assume they eat the seeds) and then reappear flying out of them a minute later.

That’s an exquisite image. I can just imagine it based on similar observations of bird behavior around my place. I don’t think we have anything quite as loud as a goldfinch’s yellow though; not that I’ve seen anyway. I love the firecracker energy of the finch family.

3 kookaburras today; wet day. 2 were preening. The other looked lonesome.
And a Willy Wagtail couple. I discovered a second, beautiful Wagtail call.
I spent some time watching bees up close cross-pollinating wildflowers.
After a few minutes of watching countless bee-decisions, it surprised me that my mind felt like it had been reset.

Hey BB,
I like that phrase "Countless bee decisions.."
And they can do "dances" to indicate to the others the direction and distance to a new hive location, to flowers, etc. A whole 'nother world...
And you're right about the reset. It's a form of mindfulness, right?

So, I know I'm stressed today... A Blue Jay in the yard was calling, and I found it irritating. Same with the incessant chirping of sparrows....
But a week or so ago, when I was feeling overwhelmed by circumstances and internal turmoil, just seeing a cardinal in a most unexpected place (on the roof of a Burger King near where I was standing by busy traffic) made me smile....

I know...
I stepped into the cold, still dark morning towards the train station and on cue, a kookaburra’s laughing call peeled through the neighborhood. I heard it as, “Come alive!”. With much, much less than unbridled enthusiasm, I’m attempting to comply.

Hummingbirds are the best birds. Mesmerizing. Maybe it was blessing you.

Re: Birds - Endlessly Fascinating
I watched a bee fly from flower to flower.
At one point he clipped a petal with his wing. He plummeted until he fell against my forearm, then back into flight.
Hopefully he learnt from the experience.
I think being watched so intently made him self-conscious and he lost focus. I sensed his embarrassment as he flew off and tried to appear like I hadn’t noticed.
