Subgoal 2c progress: Japanese travel-to-work words retained are hito (people), densha (electric train), ki (tree).
Goal 1 momentum: The word for goldfish is kingyo and goldfish symbolize good luck and vitality.
Subgoal 3a: (partial fail) beautiful group string-sound, not interested in joining. 3a revised: find a multi-cultural, multi-generational Saturday afternoon market ukulele band
Subgoal 4b achievements: Conversed to a young woman, having some practice and understanding now at reading, what it took for her just to talk to me. I felt touched by what she chose to share with me as a result and that what I shared was of value.

Re: Goals lab
Subgoal 1d: Practice a goldfish (kingyo) fishing meditation
I hold the rod with my toe while I cradle my ukulele (“jumping flea”) and strum soft chords; in the lead up to Saturday afternoon market. Across the way, I see hito waiting at the eki listening for the drone of the next densha. Above, a tori in a ki chirps out a cadence. I glance at the pond and notice a kingyo kissing the water’s surface, that is speckling with mid-morning sunlight.

Re: Goals lab
I love your goals lab posts, Beany. They make me feel oddly happy.
A bit of a coincidence/synchronicity: Over the past few years I've been volunteering with a group in my hometown working to preserve endangered historic buildings from a Japanese village that included a large goldfish farm prior to the internment of many of the Japanese American citizens during WWII. Link shows sculpture created to honor the villagers & goldfish farming operation:

Re: Goals lab
Thank you rivergirl,
This is just the sort of felicitous connection that I hoped for when I focused my attention on the goldfish in Japanese culture.
This link is joyful to me.
