Re: Mindfulness
Throwing this thought out -
Big difference between failing at some specific action/activity and "You Are a Failure".
One is objective and the situation can be assessed, and the action reattempted if warranted. The other is a subjective and harsh value judgment but based on what...?
(Speaking of actors, auditions must be really difficult. If you don't get the part, does that count as a "failure"?)

Re: Mindfulness
I had a fleeting moment of, ‘my modest effort is already a substantial contribution.’
I’m also struggling to view the world as a bad place (without first checking on the Internet).
And stuff that I feel compelled to do when it pops into my head, I’m not so worried if I don’t get it done.
It’s amazing what sleep and moderate exercise can do.

Re: Mindfulness
Life is starting to swing into balance again. Or mine is. It is as chaotic an environment as there’s ever been. The routine I’ve fallen into is satisfyingly flexible in the midst of that though.
I can put negative thoughts down to me feeling uncomfortable or unsafe in the moment. Then it becomes a puzzle to work out what specifically to shift to favorably alter the circumstance.
I feel like whatever the bigger thing that I am facing, it is hubris to think it is anything other than insurmountable. The only move I have then is try to tap into a deeper sense of kindness; one that messes with or undoes brutality and cruelty.
I know when it works it ripples and flexes mysteriously (even if I don’t get to witness that effect personally).
My focus in general, is, don’t overdo any one thing.

Re: Mindfulness
Something has put me in mind of the CBT I did 25 years ago. I remember 3 things:
1. ‘That’s a separate issue…’ constantly
2. Everything is ‘Maybe…’
3. Get specific all the time

Re: Mindfulness
I have only started to used maybe of late. The more certain the outcome seems, the more ‘maybe’ is my position.

Re: Mindfulness
I don’t know what this means.
I seem to have gained the ability to not be brutal to myself. Like, in my own head.
That’s a change in something that has always been there; more or less involuntarily.
It feels better but strange. Desired but not quite sure about it.
I’m not switching it off, just sort of turning it down to ‘pre-glom mode’, where I’m more likely to hold on or let go but as an albeit uncertain but relatively safe choice.
