During my weekly session with my counselor, we uncovered that while I don't suffer from aographobia (something terrible will happen if I leave the house), I do want to avoid having "too many rules" about leaving the house, and where I can go and when.
First up, I am very cognizant that 2020/COVID, and the six months I've spent mostly in my apartment, would make anyone question about being outdoors.
That said, I want to walk this situation back, before it starts to have bad consequences.
Here is my initial plan:
1. For at least three of the next seven days I want to get out in the morning.
In practice that means I shower, shave, put on clean clothes, get outside to enjoy the sunshine, and maybe go to the coffee shop to be around others and to see the pretty baristas, and get back by 10 am. This is a vibrant start to any day.
2. Discuss next steps further with my counselor, during our session on Tuesday.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks for listening!

Hi Oak,
I'm glad you realize that many people are feeling this way about being outside after the various Covid shutdowns, so as not to pathologize your feelings too much.
The fact that you're following through on counseling, and have made this healthy plan to start more of your days this week by getting outside are both promising signs.
You have my support and I look forward to hearing an update on how this works out for you.
