Went to the gym for the first time in my life

Post by manuel_moe_g »

A new adventure

Will work with a physical trainer two times a week

Because I am diabetic, but just a nudge into the red zone, with diet and exercise, it can totally be reversed

But since I am over 50 years old, as good a time as any to start strength training that will serve me well in my later years

Sounds good, MM! It's never too late.
Do you have a dog? They are very useful for getting you to walk more, as well as being excellent emotional support.

It's a beauty! Here's mine, a restless podenco named Nubi. It's short for Anubis, named because he looks like the dogs in ancient Egyptian art.

Wow look at that long nose! Adorable dogs. You guys rock.

Personality wise how are they both? Little quirks?

Adora is a total brat, but deep down she wants to be a good girl

You can tell that her mother was a Mexican street dog, even though Adora was never on the streets and back alleys of Mexico, she is a bit feral with eating garbage on the street and drinking gutter water, and preferring such to the filtered & refined versions in her dog bowls

Nubi is a rescue from a shelter and has been very shy and fearful ever since we got him in winter last year. Supposedly he's a "reject" from some breeder of hunting dogs and was mistreated. He lives a wonderful life with us since he can escape to the forest whenever he likes (all efforts to reinforce fences have been in vain). He doesn't walk with me in the sense that he follows me and our other dog, instead he'll run around smelling and chasing anything (especially rabbits) that moves in a 200m radius. I think he's never actually caught anything except our chickens: the first week he had one in his jaws but when I said no, he released it and hasn't touched them since. One time he brought us a dead small roe buck's leg. He likes to sleep in his own bed but in the morning he'll come and wake us up. When he's happy he'll jump like an acrobat with wiggly wiggles of his tail.
